St. John Lutheran Church is a musical congregation that boldly sings the great liturgies and hymns that reflect the reverence, dignity, and joy of our Christian faith. Nicholas Hansen, our talented organist and director of our various choirs, earned his Director of Parish Music degree from Concordia University Chicago in December 2023. In addition to congregational participation during the worship services, we offer the following opportunities for those with vocal or instrumental talents.
Our adult choir beautifies our worship services throughout the year with their vocal talents. They practice on Wednesday evenings in the choir room.
The children sing in cheerful response for all our gracious Lord Jesus has done for them. Those with instrumental talents also contribute their praises.
Our handbell choir adds a joyous and unique dynamic to our worship services during the Christmas and Easter seasons. This group practices seasonally as announced.
Both youth and adults make a joyful noise to the Lord on various Sundays and seasonally with their instrumental skills.
Our “Music at Saint John” program showcases sacred music by talented musicians near and far. These concerts, recitals, and performances are enjoyed by our congregation, community, and well beyond.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
Colossians 3:16
