St. John is actively involved in loving, serving, and supporting our community. Below are a few examples.
We operate the Lending Closet, through which we lend durable medical equipment to our community. Click here for more information.
We regularly collect non-perishable food items, paper goods, and more for a local food bank.
Each July we volunteer to deliver Meals on Wheels to the Sycamore community.
Each Easter we offer a delicious hot breakfast at no charge to members and guests alike. Come and feed your stomach (at breakfast) and your soul (in worship).
We participate in Sycamore’s annual Pumpkin Fest in two ways. First, with a booth downtown. Second, with a float in the annual parade. Look for us each year at the end of October.
Each October we hold an annual ”trunk or treat” in our church parking lot, providing a safe and enclosed location for the children of our community to show off their costumes and get some candy in the process.
Each November we offer a delicious thanksgiving meal at no charge to members of our community. Join us this Thanksgiving.
Each December our youth and adults put on a live nativity — complete with actors, choirs, animals, scenes, and narration — to share the story of our Savior’s birth with our community.
We joyfully support the pregnant mothers, expecting fathers, and both the unborn and newborn children in our community through the ministry of We Care Pregnancy Clinic in DeKalb.
We joyfully support the Redeeming Life Outreach Ministries maternity home in East Dundee, where mothers and their newborn children receive all sorts of personal and vocational support.
“Through love serve one another.”
